FFmpeg 9.0 is officially released, codenamed "Lei," a name chosen to honor the late Dr. Lei Xiaohua from Communication University of China. Between 2013 and 2016, he authored a wealth of tutorials on FFmpeg, audio and video encoding/decoding, and transport protocols, helping countless developers get started. In 2016, he tragically passed away suddenly. This year marks the tenth anniversary of his death, and FFmpeg pays tribute to him with this major release. Lei Xiaohua can be regarded as the enlightener of Chinese audio and video developers, a representative figure in spreading FFmpeg technical knowledge in Chinese, and a shared technical guide for a generation of developers. 🫡
