1928: Mickey Mouse makes his first appearance
On May 15, 1928, Mickey Mouse made his debut in the silent animated short Plane Crazy. Produced and directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, this short featured Mickey attempting to emulate Charles Lindbergh but failed to secure a distributor at its initial test screening.
