12 May 2007: A Day of Misjudgment
The 12 May 2007 incident in Karachi was a day of intense political violence that left over 50 people dead and more than 100 injured, as rival political factions clashed during the arrival of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. The violence, widely seen as a orchestrated effort to block the judge from entering the city, paralyzed Karachi and saw armed groups roam the streets, causing the legal community to observe the date as a "12 May 2007: A Day of Misjudgment".
